About this Work
Camouflage is not concealment so much as patience. The animal that holds still in the bracken isn’t hiding from you specifically, it simply understands that the world is easier when you are not immediately visible. Emerging From Hiding catches the moment that patience ends: the decision to be seen.
On a ground of pale, almost bleached blue, the form arrives, long, fluid, assembled from deep burgundy and sharp teal, marks describing the arc of a body uncurling. There is something private about it, the way a creature looks in the moment before it knows you’re watching. A painting about the small drama of revelation: things showing themselves, finally, in the light.
