09, Through The Tree Line
£325
About this Work
The tree line is a kind of threshold, the place where the open gives way to the covered, where movement becomes glimpsed and then lost. Things cross it all the time. Most of us never see them. Through The Tree Line makes that crossing visible: a creature mid-transit, the canopy implied in the marks above it.
Against a ground of clear teal, cool, unhurried, the light of early morning, the form assembles itself in grey and sand and olive: the body of a large animal navigating the edge between spaces. The mark is open and gestural, the collage visible at the surface, the composition unhurried. A painting that feels like looking out of a window at exactly the right moment.
