About this Work
Landing is a complicated physics, a negotiation between momentum and stillness, wings angling back, the precise geometry of a controlled arrival. And yet for the bird it seems effortless. Soft Landing isolates that moment of touchdown: the body still carrying the shape of flight, the feet just making contact.
Against a ground of sharp, singing yellow, the creature assembles itself in fragments: dark marks and pale arcs suggesting wing and tail, a collaged interior of newsprint and brushwork that rewards close looking. The composition is playful and precise in equal measure, a small painting that holds more than its scale suggests.
