About this Work

Some encounters are peripheral. You don’t see the whole thing, just the movement, the shape of it going, the particular quality of presence that tells you something was there. In Passing is about registering: the briefness that is somehow not nothing.

A horse, or the memory of one, moves across a ground of deep orange, its form assembled from layers of grey, white and slate collage, the striped patterning of its flank a found texture within the painted one. There is ease and unhurried posture. It is not performing for you. It is simply passing, as things do, while you happen to be looking.
